How to take care of your skin in winter

How to take care of your skin in Winter.

As winter come, the problems related to skin will started. To decrease the effect of these problems we have to start preparing our body from today.

What are the causes:

As temperature falls, we starts using Heaters which blow very dry and hot air, from where problem start taking place. Dry air from Heater takes Oil of our skin with them which holds the moisture with it. Due to which the layer of our skin becomes Dry which cause many skin problem like  eczema, psoriasis, and severe dry skin, which are very painful and itchy.

Alan Menter, MD, Texas Dermatology Associates in Dallas Says "If we stop producing moisture or if heating sucks it out of the skin, and it's not being replaced, that will tend to cause little cracks that affect the barrier of the skin". Which means if our skin dries out and no moisture is being produced by it or the heat takes all the moisture with it, then it will lead to little cracks in our skin which lead to affect the barrier of our skin.

But you can minimize the affect of skin problem by attempting some precaution before it gets too late.

Take a small Bath:

'When weather is cold, some of us started taking long shower from hot water which will leads to Dry and itchy skin', says Dr. Menter. Instead of taking a long shower with hot water he recommends you:

- to take a shower as short as possible and use Luke warm water instead of taking hot water shower.
- Don't use soaps which will takes out your moisture. Use moisture-rich soaps like Dove and Nivea soaps.
- To avoid over drying, gently dry yourself with cotton towels
- When your skin get little damp apply moisturizer to it

Moisturize your skin:

No matter whether you have eczema, psoriasis, or severe dry skin, you should apply moisturizer at your skin to prevent or cure your skin.

Many of us, generally Men skip to apply moisturizer on their skin which leads to dry skin. So after taking bath we should apply moisturizer to our skin to protect our skin. No matter how you apply moisturizer to your skin, just do it regularly.

Christine Yuan, 22, who have the problem of eczema and psoriasis, wraps her problem areas in plastic wrap for 30 minutes to an hour after moisturizing. "It takes time," says Yuan, "but your skin will get baby soft!"

Carefully select what you wear:

Instead of wearing wool or polyester clothes which will make you feel itchy and uncomfortable, you should wear Cotton clothes which are lightweight, breathable and very soft.

Some people mainly in India likes to wear Woolen sweater inside their clothes. This should be avoided. And instead of it they should wear Premium Thermals which are soft and non-itchy.

Take care of the air around you:

Many dermatologist suggest their patients to use a Humidifier at their home which will control the moisture level of the room. They also suggest to keep the humidity level between 30% and 50%.

Be Healthy:

To fight from anyone, the main thing we have to care about is our Health. The same thing is follows with our skin problems as they also any how connected with our immune system. Many Dermatologist believe that bacterial, viral, or fungal infections can make skin problem worse.

Keep yourself proper vaccinated from primary doctor. And you should also follow basic steps to keep yourself healthy, like washing your hands frequently, getting good sleep, and exercising to avoid viral and bacterial infection in your skin.

You should also relieve yourself from stress. As increase of your stress level, leads to decrease in body water level which will again responsible for your skin problem. To avoid stress you should include exercise, meditation, yoga, or biofeedback into your daily routine.

As we all know skin problem is largely faced by fat people. According to a study revealed that decrease in body weight cure the problem of skin disease like eczema, psoriasis, and severe dry skin.

Phototherapy:

As winter starts, our exposure to sun also start decreasing which is not a good thing as sunlight can help relieve psoriasis. In fact, 60% of psoriasis patients reported improvement with sunlight in a 2004 Clinical and Experimental Dermatology study.

So Phototherapy is very important to cure our skin disease, and we should expose our body into sunlight on winters as it will warm us and also cure our skin.
